Default Tour de Lance - Stage 1

Anyone who knows anything about the Tour de France knows that the first days are for the sprinters and the "REAL" racing is in the mountains. Lance sits in 3rd overall, a very comfortable place to be, and still about 15-16 seconds ahead of his fiercest competition (imho) Jan Ulrich and Tyler Hamilton. George Hincapie (Lance's teammate)9th is overall but that'll change when he has to REALLY start working for Lance. Today Hincapie said it was all about protecting Lance and staying out of trouble (crashes and mechanicals). Here's a pic of Hincapie -

I think Hamilton, will be in the top three, if he can
keep the rubber side down.

Thats a great shot of George Hincapie getting well deserved attention. He's been such a work horse on the US Postal team now for six years. I had the privilege of watching him grow up in some of the local bike races here in Long Island,New York. As a junior rider at 17 he would win the junior race (about 10 to 15 miles) and then ride with the Pro 1,2 (50 miles) and place in the top ten (with restricted gearing no less).
I just hope that whatever the outcome (Lance # 1 ) . It's a relatively crash free exciting race with NO media driven drug doping raids that only detract from the amazing ability of all the riders in the Tour.
Safe Cruising to all 4 wheels or 2 .
Jim
