Default Coolant out the exhaust

Bad news. I have a 1997 Ford F250 truck that overheated. Upon closer inspection coolant is coming out the exhaust pipe. No coolant in the oil, so I am guessing the Intake manifold gasket blew?

Does that sound correct? can I start the car for a test or for less than 1 mile drive to the repair shop or is it best to leave it off and tow it to the shop?

thanks

Mike

Sounds right. Had that same thing happen to my wife's Dodge Colt a bunch of years back when the termostat didn't open and she drove it till smoke was everywhere. It wouldn't start after that. I'd have it towed to your shop rather than risk more damage.

Depends on whether you feel lucky. Seems to me, could also be head gasket - keeps combustion, water & oil separated - water to get to combustion chmaber if that went - not long before it'd be in oil.[xx(]

I had this happen to my Isuzu pickup several years ago. I thought it was a blown head gasket, but it turned out to be a cracked head. It will be one or the other.
