Hooligan, I'm still watching closely also. As of now, its still heading "west". The longer it stays on this path the more I tend to worry. If it starts to take the "usual" west-north-west (the sooner the better for me) then I start to relax a bit & you can start the worrying. I live on the West coast right above the white line on the left side of the projected path. Still hard to tell but with past history the storms above Haiti/Cuba usually hit the East coast of Florida or Georgia and the Carolinas. But you never know. When Hurricane Andrew crossed the state it came about 20 miles south of me, minor damage but I wouldn't be able to cross the alley and head south. If it stays north of Miami I would probably be able to zoom across Alligator Alley, down US 1 & hit Key West in about 5 hours. Either way, I'm packed for the trip and also spent the past weekend trimming trees again and put loose items away. We should have a pretty good idea late Wednesday I would think. On the way home today I'll start stocking up on the Becks, if the storm doesn't hit it goes to Key West with me
[?]P.S. I am also buying a battery operated airator for the fish tank. Almost killed myself with blowing in the hose thing![:0] [8D] |

I just noticed that the "projected path" that I have posted in the first post is being automatically updated. Now thats cool. I have also noticed that the path has been lowered a whee bit more south. Not so cool, for me anyway. Time will tell. On a side note, one always wishes these storms to go elsewhere but elsewhere is somewhere and people live there. Right now I feel for the people in Georgia, Carolinas, Virgina for all the flooding that they are experiencing, and, more to come. Its seems never ending right now for these people. As I said before, I think Wednesday night we'll have more of an handle on the real projected path.
So, Hooligan, you going to Disney World?[8D] I already have reservations for November in Epcot. Every year at that time they hold "taste of the town". Its a blast, going from one country to another, drinking and dining, on to the next county drinking and dining and so on. Best of all I don't have to drive! |

I guess I'll be seeing something from Fransis although don't believe it will be anything like the east coast will see. I'm a hundred miles north of Tampa on the Nature Coast. I do have an all Vette show to go to on the Saint Petersburg Pier Saturday and nobody's mentioned calling it off. If the map is any indication, we might be able to squeeze the show in and then run for cover back up north.

Ohh, don't know if Georgia is the best choice! Just look at the projected path in my first post. This is being updated daily. Georgia, the Carolinas and so on, they most likely be hit with "water" plus. This just isn't about Florida. These storms travel up the eastern coast and the coast is soaked. I personally just got off the phone with Key West and they say everyone (well, not everyone) is leaving Miami and going to Key West! At this time that move is even iffy, but most likely OK. Me, I'm not sure if I'll make it to the Keys because now there talking about making Alligator Alley one way so people from the east coast can get out of harms way and come here to the west coast. If that happens I'm stuck here and can't "GO ON VACATION AGAIN"!!!! Hey, only venting minor frustration. Sorry. But all in all, Georgia is most likely going to be hit also. I'm not a weather man but I can probably predict just as well with information given.

Just got off the phone with the B & B in Key West and after listening to their side of the story, which at first I was kinda of pissed off, I came to relize that I most likely will have a home and be fairly safe while others are running from theirs to be safe. On top of that, this B & B is "pet friendly" and there are traveling people with pets that need a place to stay. At that point (even later when again I got my own personal frustration out of the way) I relized that others no matter what, at this time, need that room much more than I. I am alittle embrassed at this time of my stupid reaction but I am only human and I did call back within 5 minutes to rectify the situation which I am glad I did. Just goes to show that at times we don't think rationally even if our own problem is minor compared to others. I wish everyone on the east coast the best.[?]
