Might as well start a new post. Why not, its a happening thing. Writing this as I watch the news and I think I just saw Hooligans Crusier!.. Live from Merritt Island. Get inland Hooligan, NOW. Be safe. Speaking of staying safe, Crewzin, the news is now showing this beast crossing the state on over to north of Tampa. Be safe. I know I am leaving tons of Cruisers out but I can't remember everyone at this time. Apologies to those not mention. One person that comes to mine is our long lost friend IRPT. Isn't he up Georgia way?
I know that for a few of you, you might be "saying so what!". Well, we can all understand that. We have chosen to live in "Paradise" just as the ones who have chosen to live in earthquake country, tornando alley and along the Mississippi which floods every now and then those who have chosen to live where "known" problems are to exist and I have no clue what they are(you have to some kind of humor). The earth gives us a very large playing field which one can say "it happen over there but won't happen to me". Well, it may never happen to you but once, even once, when you have a close call you kinda think things differently.
I was part of Charley and now I'll be part of Frances, just not as much but things are different already. Gas lines, home depot, food stores, etc., big time lines and I'm really not in the middle of things. Totally weird. Its tough to prepare when your being told, " well, maybe here or maybe there". As I mention in another post about "am I going on vacation or not", well, no. I just gave up my room to people that really need somewhere to run to. I'll batten down the hatches here and let these poor folks leave their homes to where they believe they will be out of harms way. God, I'm rambling. Just had thoughts that I wanted to tell everyone about. All in all, everyone, be safe and let us all know how things turned out. Here's one for you[^]
BDD, yes, you probably saw us leaving on Tuesday. We now are in NC at a friends house near Boone. Figured we might as well leave and get close to Cherokee to go on the Blue Ridge Parkway drive. I am setting here watching Frances with 2 other families that have homes where we live, as we left, we kissed the house goodbye. I'll try to keep in touch from time to time. God Bless everyone and thanks for your concern, we are safe, have $$'s and probably will return soon.

Our long lost IRPT is in Jacksonville, NC. He'll be fine there. But if he ever shows back up here, we'll give him grief!

Hooligan, if this thing heads the way they're talking, you might still get to "enjoy" some of it in Boone!

YA'LL STAY SAFE!!

You are definately going to get wet Crewzin. As far I me, this morning a two minute rain storm and thats about it. Just came in from mowing and trimming the yard. Do your best to keep dry everyone. Rooting for you.

Crewzin and anyone staying at home. I just went through this with Charley and just recently was told to do this. Turn your A/C down cold, when/if you lose power at least you'll be comfortable a few hours longer. It gets hot real quick without that A/C. ALso turn your refrigerator/freezer down to their coldest settings, of course only open doors when you must. If you have room in freezer and have bottle water, put them in the freezer. The more stuff in the freezer the longer it will stay cold. Frozen water bottles can also double as ice cubes in the ice chests. If you have a bbq, bring it close to the house or put in garage. It will come in handy. It won't though if no gas or charcoal. Get something to make a hand held fan out of. If you lose power you will be sweating your a$$ off but lose a pound or two. I was without power for only 4 days/nights but man, that was enough. Ran out of real food (steak, chicken, hot dogs, etc.) Was getting ready to open the soups, beans, corn, etc. Had enough water for 1 or 2 days more. Speaking of water, you could lose power to the sewer pumps. It sucks doing #2 outside so fill up the tubs, use this water to flush the toliet. You can use this water as drinking water also but it must first be boiled for 5 minutes, remember the bbq, this is another handy feature, it boils water. Boil some water, drop in some pasta then when done add sauce. It will not believe how good it is. Anyway, stay away from the windows and play a game of cards with the love one to try to take the storm off your mind. For now just stay very safe everyone in the path.

P.S. For all I know, Frances might decide to take a u-turn and then come after me. Doubt it, but this one has been a crazy one. No rain here since this mornings brief shower. Sunny and alittle windy, so far.

Herb,

Thanks for the advice. Did most of that stuff already. Just picked up another bag of ice and thru another 8 bottles of water in the freezer. Th BBQ is tied down outside next to the garage door (not really nay room in the garage with the Vette/PT/trash cans/patio furniture etc. taking up most of the room. I have a small fan that runs on batteries that I take to car shows...that might come in handy and tons of batteries. Have a radio and power tank/with lights all charged up. Bath is full of water..and tooth brush runs on batteries!
