Gary,

I'm 22 miles from the coast and my particular area is high above sea level so no fear of sea serge or flooding. Right now only low lying areas and all mobile home residents have to evacuate. I've buttoned things up and am filled with supplies and will sit it out. The winds for my area are supposed to be down to tropical storm strength which is below hurricane levels. The only thing I have to worry about is flying debris that may damage my house (and the wifes SUV which is sitting otside) and a prolonged power outage. Supposed to hit my area sometime after midnight.

Well Crewzin, if anybody was prepared AND organized I knew it would be you. I'm usually the opposite. You know how well junk draws are, well, thats about how organized I am. Matter of fact, after basically a nice day here in Fort Myers and figuring that for my area we would escape this storm I found out different at about midnight. All of a sudden the wind comes a howling. My big picture window (7x9 foot one piece of glass) starts bowing in a good 3 inches.[:0] Got my son up real quick and put up some of my home made storm shutters. Got lucky there, they went up quickly and easily.[8D] The wind is talking to me now, very loud. Just got in from taking my bath in the pool since my son used the shower (my other shower is tore up being overhauled) and made a pork sandwich along with an ice cold Becks. Now to sit back and watch a little TV. I think that I'll just get the outskirts of this one but it appears to be packing a punch. Stay safe

Jeez, I'm not really near the storm but I just got power back, out since 11AM. Still breezy, not that bad though, still raining, but not that bad. Apparently Crewzin and SakiGt are still in the middle of things but hope to hear from them soon. If their hit at all I would not think of hearing from them for a few days. Good luck everyone. Stay well, Ivan might pay a visit.

Just got word that our house came thru with NO major damage from Frances. We were lucky!!!

Now we will be able to go on the Blue Ridge Parkway Cruise this coming week without having to run back to Florida and picking up the pieces.

Hope the rest of the Florida Cruisers made it OK!!! And everyone else that may have yet to feel her BREEZES!!![xx(]

Also found out that our daughter who also evacuated Merritt Island for NC is within 10 miles of where we are at. The Cell phones don't work here in the mountains.

Hooligan, good to hear your good news. Thats the way I look at it also "no major damage". I consider myself lucky saying that!
Getting pounded with rain and some pretty good winds right now. Woundn't you know it, now the dogs decide that have to potty.[xx(] Slightly joking[] here but maybe you should stay put until Ivan finishes doing what he's going to do[:0] I might just leave my window covering up, tried of taking down and then back up.
Plan on extra time coming home, everyone will be coming home at the same time.[8)]

Crewzins just north of Tampa and the eye of the storm so he's probably getting hit pretty hard right now. Lets wish him luck. SakiGT I think is on the other side but even if she isn't this storm will get her rained on no matter what coast she is on. You stay safe also and that goes for everyone in its path in Florida and where ever its headed next.

My first level of my dock is now under water by about 6" and it appears to be rising pretty fast. The high tide mark is usually about 2 feet below that first level. Second level is about 4 feet above the normal high tide mark. I might just have to go swimming to get to the bbq. I didn't bring it up to the house this time. Heavy son of a gun. I was hoping for the best and lost.

I'm here. Loads of rain and winds (actually still getting hit right now). 57 out of the 67 counties in Florida have been hit with some portion of the power outages. Over 6 million homes and businesses lost power at one point. As the storm moves north, the three major power companies are going in and trying to restore power as fast as possible. My county get hit and is still out, but I was lucky and although the power went out about a dozen times, it came right back on. I don't leave the computer on as I'm sure a drop in power doesn't do it any good. I'll visit my usual forums and turn it back off until this thing is outta here.

No major damage here except the flower garden. Looks like Godzilla walked right thru it. Supposed to be sunny and warm the next few days until IVAN decides where he's going to hit.

I am going to have to move. With Charley I lost power for four days and with Frances four hours. Other then that minor grip, good to hear that all went well Crewzin.[?] Today here ended up being mostly sunny but like you said, I am starting to prepare for Ivan![:0] The water out back got up to the second level of my dock earlier today but I just came back from the bbq on the dock and only had to walk through water about 2 inches high. Earlier it would have been up to my waist. But, I still would have bbq'd. Looks like this is Florida's year!
Your turn Sakigt[:I]
