Default IVAN

Might as well start a thread on the latest threat. Since I never lost power during the last two, I have plenty of stuff stored up in case IVAN decides to come around. I haven't taken the PT or the Vette out of the garage for over a week now (using the wifes car)and I have an all Vette show coming up this Saturday (postponed from last Saturday). Decided to pull the top off the Vette and have it all powder coated which would give me a chance to clean up the manifold and smaller bits that I couldn't get to real easy. Hopefully I get it back later today and can get it back together in time for the show and it will be a nice weekend before IVAN comes along.

If Ivan the Terrible follows current forecast track EVERYONE on the East Coast had better head for the hills!

My family wants to evac outa here to family in Kentucky.
Im thinking of staying.
Someone has to run off the lotters when our house has no roof and is in shables.

That is not a joke either.

We expect to lose the roof, it is very possible this time around in its weeker state.

My building at work is a huge two story 1/4 warehouse all concrete and we expect to lose the roof here if it hits our area full on.

BDD, Yea she should have. I had a 69 VW bug all decked out with competition orange paint, pinstripes and single loud exhaust plus a Pontiac Tempest convertible.

Colby,

Although we have been really lucky with the last two storms, we have added a large aluminum extension to the house (where I'm sitting now) and I'm sure a direct hit would take it away. The house is built to the newest hurricane standards, but the extension is only bolted down to a slab that supposedly will withstand 110 mile an hour winds. A direct hit would take this thing away like Dorthy's house in the Wizard of OZ. []

CREWZIN,
After Charley our house was messed up some, pull some fascia out and 40% of rear shingles are missing, down to tar paper. We have 3 small leaks in the rook that have showed on the interior ceiling. I believe our house was build in early 80's or earlier, not quite sure.

We too have an addition, however it came with house. Its called a Florida room, its all concrete block but has windows on all sides. 2 on each side at 9x4 and 2 on rear wall 6x4, BIG windows to cover. We figure if one window was to break it would take the rest in that pane and then possibly the rest of the windows with the roof, along with the roof to this area will go the roof of the house, they are attached. Each window is a crank out window that has 3 seperations, big window has 4 seperate cranks and the smaller ones has only 3.

It sucks but what are we going to do. Try our best to cover what we can and hope for the best. Thats really all you can do.

I can't imagine having to evacuate 3 times in a month. You'll are better than I would be. I would have freaked out after the 1st one. Good luck and stay safe.

After last weekend, I definitely learned my lesson! I'll buy food this time and not rely on my fav places to eat out (I was hungry!)

We all understand your desire to protect your property, but remember this one is a monster! It's still at 150mph and may get worse again. Won't be much you can do if the doggone thing blows you all the way to Kentucky!
STAY SAFE!!!
