Default Brought home Mini Cooper S

I don't know if anyone remembers my mentioning that we"ve been waiting since January (when we got on the list)for our new Mini Cooper S. We finally brought it home today. 2005 Electric Blue with white roof, mirrors, and those oh so neat rims, v-spoke, 17"ers, and white bonnet stripes. The white accents really make the Blue pop! Now we have two cool retro cars. And oh what fun we're going to have with them both. I drove it home part of the way. Very much a gokart feeling, pretty zippy, but not the launch feeling like the GT. It's a 6 speed manual, reverse is upper left like the GT. Both being GETRAGS. At any rate we already love the GT and I can see some curves ahead in the Mini. Can't wait!

From what I read, a stock GT is faster than a stock Mini S. It's just a Mini handles the curves alot better than a GT.

From what I can tell at the moment on my short part of the drive from the dealer yesterday, the GT is faster. Now I do expect the Mini S will out handle the GT in tight twisties. But I will say on open highway say, between here in Chandler, AZ to visit our son In Henderson (Vegas) the GT is Awesom in the straights and in the mountains. From what I felt the Mini has a bit harder ride. The GT is like riding on air rails. So I'll have to do some more investigating, huh? I'm ready!

Wow, wish I could afford both! You are ready for ALL KINDS of fun now. I bet you will have a hard time not modding that little rocket.

No doubt the Mini will out corner the PTGT, that's no contest! Road & Track Magazine lists even an Autostick equipped PTGT as faster in the 1/4 mile and 0-60 runs, but also said the PTGT was definitely the choice for that all important freeway passing exercise.
