Default Must...vent...

So Ive been working the typical no frills jobs all my life...since age 16. Cashier, Teller, Secretary...all the while going to High School then college. So here I am at 21 with a sweet ride more than halfway paid off but nothing much else. I just applied for the Marketing Department in the hospital Im working at online and omg, Im nervous as hell. This isnt one of those jobs a monkey can do (that Im used to). Its REAL. Hopefully I get it because theyll pay for what else I need to finish my BA then MBA plus Ill have experience. Did I mention a helluva pay increase? I think Im scared/excited. Must not count chickens before they hatch...

Good luck but even if you don't get it you keep trying. It's good to see you have a plan and aren't lost as much of the younger generation is.

Lauren,

I wouldn't call that "Venting". All the best to you on your application. Hopefully you've filled out the forms with the experience they are looking for they will see you as the right person for the job. If it gets down to an interview, make them think they need you for the job. If it's one thing I learned with 36 years in the government, You gotta blow your own horn, nobody's going to do it for you. Good Luck!

A hospital has a marketing department?
Anyway, if you're working there, I'd think you have an edge - hopefully the ones you work for now will put in a "plug" for you.
Good luck.[?]

First off, I wish you the best of luck with this possible new position Lauren, you deserve it! Second, if you don't stick your neck out from time to time and make a concious decision to reach for the brass ring, you'll never get it. Of course, sometimes sticking your neck out just gets you a slap in the face, but if all you ever think about is the possible downside, if you never take the shot, if never go for it, you'll be stuck in a monkey-do job forever.

So when will you know if you've got an interview?

We all wish you the best, Lauren! But, don't dispare if this one doesn't come through. You can do anything you set your mind to.

Lauren, Best of luck on your interview [^]!!! Take it form onw who knows, you CAN DO anything you put your mind to. When your employer (s) find out how good you are and IF you do need additional training they WILL pay to send you for it.

I got a message 10 minutes before I had to leave for classes, but the woman wants to ask me some more questions. Looking good.... *finds wood to knock on...decides cat will have to do*
