Really? "Your racist and sexist slip is showing, buddy."

No, I'm not up on all the quirks and nuances - I'm in the "Liberal" NorthEast, remember?

I failed to notice any comment from you about the personal attacks from your fellow libs.
I speak for myself, and answer for my comments, not those of others.

as to: "Typical liberal code talk."
Labels must be very comforting.

I said Rumsfeld is arrogant, too, and while I'm at it, so is Al Sharpton.

Arrogant:
1) Having or displaying a sense of overbearing self-worth or self-importance.
2)Marked by or arising from a feeling or assumption of one's superiority toward others.

That certainly does describe liberals. If any group thinks they are superior and self important it is the left.

That's incredible. The whole rant has been - "it isn't Bush or FEMA's fault", now, when the facts became so overwhelming and he issues a weak acceptance of some responsibilty you jump in and sing praises...INCREDIBLE.

By the way, I didn't like or vote for Clinton. He was a liar. Bush Jr. is incredibly inept and clueless. Bush Sr. was a worse liar - that selling of arms to Iran was a disgusting low point not seen since Nixon.

I still DON'T think it was the President's fault, but I respect him for assuming responsibility for anything that didn't go perfectly, and I guarantee you if he wasn't the classy guy he was he would "out" the failures of that whiny governor and mayor who have acted in a totally venal way, in my opinion. The mayor has yet to give an explanation of why those school busses sat there. And the idiot governor, who is still pitching hissy fits, has pitched one over the dead bodies not being picked up fast enough by FEMA, but, guess what- it came out today that HER office told them last WEEK the state would be responsible for that. Oops. My husband is working in Louisiana right now and the locals in Lafayette he has talked to feel the same way we do about the situation. So does my son, who lives in New Orleans part time and does construction projects there. I trust the observations and opinions of the locals more than the news media.

If there is really anywhere to point the finger on whose to blame for the whole "response to Katrina," it's the governor of Louisianna. She had to "sleep on it" on whether or not to let the LA National Guard mobilize. The Governor is the Commander In Chief for his/her Guard. She also delayed letting other states' National Guard enter the state. The president will override the governor's in national security needs, but not for natural disasters.

Don, You need to remember that the mainstream newspapers misrepresent everything Bush says. He only accepted responsibility for failure of the Federal Government. He didn't accept failure of what the State and Local idiots did (or didn't do).

His response was exactly right. He said:
"And to the extent the federal government didn't fully do its job right, I take responsibility. I want to know what went wrong or what went right ... It's in our national interest that we find out exactly what went on so we can better respond. I'm not going to defend the process going in but I am going to defend the people on the ground saving lives."

The typical headlinesread: "Katrina failings were my fault, Bush admits for first time". The headline sets the tone for the entire article. When people read the actual text of his speach after reading the deceptive headline they assume that the entire fault for the failings were Bush's. And then when they read the actual quote, they assume that the failings were the Federal Government's fault in the first place.

This is not an accident. The editors know exactly how to edit a headline to mischaracterize a quote. Otherwise, the headline would read "Bush accepts responsibility for Fed's response". Or better yet: "Katrina disaster was local government's fault" and then as a sub-heading say: "Bush accepts responsibility for Fed's response".

Been out of town a bit, sorry I didn't get back to this right away as it is becoming so much fun. Here come's the "tirade!"

I do applaud Bush for taking responsibility for something the federal government is in charge of. I figure he is due as this is the first time in 5 years!

When did Clinton ever have to do that? Let's see.....I don't think Clinton ever screwed up this bad on anything, let alone everything. Clinton did apologize for lying about his relationship with his intern, which is a HUGE deal for the right.

Governor Bush lies about important thing, constantly.
Don't believe me?

www.bushwatch.com

I am not blaming Bush for the Katrina thing, but the people he appoints seem to only have one qualification (besides being underqualified), they helped get him where he is now.

This thread is SO wide and out of control I can't possibly reply to all the comments the righties have.

It comes down to this partial list.

Bush has failed us!
-An immoral and illegal war, where our boys are dying and our money is going.
-Karl Rove is an alleged traitor and should be awaiting trial (along with the rest of the white house staff).
-Kenneth Lay, where does one start?
-Big business tax cuts and deregulation!
-LIES, LIES, LIES! Again, check out www.bushwatch.com (of course most of you won't like this site)
-This economy blows. (or is that still Clinton's fault?)
-Record profits for oil companies at our expense.
-WHERE'S BIN LADEN? HUSSEIN NEVER ATTACKED US
-Allowing schools to teach "Intelligent design"? C'MON!
-Weapons of mass destruction jokes at black tie dinner-tasteless
-Ignoring warnings of terrorism.
-Too many vacations.
-Terrible White House Press Secretary-Scott McClellan (sp)

This isn't even close to being a complete list. There are so many things these criminals have done wrong there are books written and being written on it (damn honest liberal media).

To compare the Bush crime family to Clinton is hilarious. I have a hard time taking the right seriously. Your anti-science, pro-religion/big business/rich people stance has me floored. How can almost all of you claim to be Christian?

Typical argument for tax cuts-"The rich don't deserve to be punished with high taxes." Now taxes are punishment? Why should the working poor be punished?

Our country seems to do best under democratic leadership and it will be a long time before a Republican gets my vote. I'm guessing I'm not the only one who feels that way. Although based on this forum, it may look like it.

I am not a wacko liberal like you may all think. I think their are a lot of nut-jobs on the left too. I have been an independent for years. It wasn't until the last 3 or 4 years I have moved not necessarily to the left, but as far away from the right as possible! They do not represent my values. The right wing's fear based, religious, know it all, go it alone, cowboy, all the answers are in our playbook, we are moral than you attitude is more than I can take.

Was this the tirade you were expecting?

I MAINTAIN MY STATEMENT- PEOPLE WHO VOTED FOR BUSH ARE IDIOTS!
