I, too, think it is good that some of you younger ones are getting interested in voting. However, some of your answers and the ways in which they are presented indicate to me you may want to do a little more research to be better informed next time around. I recommend watching the Fox News Channel, especially the O'Reilly Factor and Hannity and Colmes shows. They do the best job on tv ,in my opinion, of presenting all sides of the issues without the bias you get from the mainstream media (i.e.,NBC, ABC, CBS and also CNN, the New York Times, BBC, etc.)

Also, I have traveled quite a bit and especially in the Caribbean there are throngs of Canadians investing, expatriating and in general fleeing from their socialized government and repressive tax system and inefficient health care system. There is no such thing as a "FREE" health care system, folks. NOTHING is "free"! YOU pay for it in some form or fashion. So, just get that idea out of your mind completely. It ain't ( sic) gonna happen, youngsters. The very best things our President and government can "do for you" is to free you to do for yourselves.

This means (A.) Getting rid of our present income tax system and replacing it with the national sales tax system. Basically, this means you keep everything you earn and pay a tax on everything you buy. This would unleash small businesses to create jobs at an unprecedented rate, you would no longer file income taxes every year, it would have the effect of reforming elections and lobbyists' undue influence on elections because most of what they are lobbying for are tax breaks for special interests, and would increase revenue to the government dramatically as the economy grew. (B.) Passing an energy bill emphasizing alternative forms of energy like nuclear, building additional refineries and drilling in Alaska ( did you know only an area the size of a major aiprort would be needed and it would NOT hurt the environment). This would help reduce our dependency on foreign oil and we could tell the Saudis to feed their oil to their camels, and (C.) Allowing you young'uns to save for your own retirement by putting part of your social security into your own accounts.

Additionally, we should elimiminate the death tax, the marriage penalty and the capital gains taxes. Bush wants to do all these things in some form or fashion, as well as tort reform which drives up your health care costs. Additionally, he also is THE best choice for fighting the war on terror, which is aimed not just at our lives but our economy. I suggest learning the real story behind all these issues and not relying on the likes of Michael Moore and Dan Rather to lie to you next time.

And gently, please, could I also suggest some of you work on spelling? I am sorry, but I used to teach English, and those of you who wish to teach really should work on better writing and spelling in order to succeed as a teachers. I know we all get in a hurry typing on here, but if you are still in school do work on better grammar and spelling for the sake of your own future jobs' effectiveness.

Retro,

I agree with everything in your post except for the spelling of "suceed", ironically in your conclusion about spelling and grammar.

The thing is about young voters, who think they are knowledgeable, is that they are getting their political acumen from the likes of Michael Moore, Dan Rather and Doonesbury.

A guy at the office was explaining to me how I should believe Moore’s movie because it was all direct quotes and video clips that “don’t lie”. If Moore was filming a documentary on Jesus, he would show a video clip where Jesus tells people to “cast the first stone” at the woman caught in adultery. In case you aren’t familiar with the story, Jesus says “he who is without sin cast the first stone”. The people realize that they are all sinners and let the woman go.

Nowadays, it is so easy to debunk so many of the arguments people like Moore present as “facts”. A guy at the office told me about how Moore was filming outside the Saudi embassy and Secret Service agents checked on him to make sure he wasn’t “casing the joint” for a terrorist attack. Moore points to this as proof that the Bush administration is in league with the Saudis. I was curious about what my friend said, so I decided to look in to it.

I went to the Secret Service web site to find out about it. Within 2 minutes, I’d found out that in addition to protecting the president, VP, etc., the Secret service is to protect “visiting heads of foreign states or governments and their spouses traveling with them, other distinguished foreign visitors to the United States, and official representatives of the United States performing special missions abroad”
http://www.ustreas.gov/usss/protection.shtml

I found it peculiar that Michael Moore with his big film budget couldn’t afford $15/mo internet access. Or couldn’t find 2 minutes to determine why the Secret Service might legitimately be at the Saudi Embassy. Or maybe he did know this, but trusted in the ignorance of his audience not to find this out.

I then went looking and found this web site:
http://tinyurl.com/28hjy
It tells you all you need to know about Fahrenheit 911, including legitimate criticism of the Bush administration.
