(A.) Getting rid of our present income tax system and replacing it with the national sales tax system. Basically, this means you keep everything you earn and pay a tax on everything you buy. This would unleash small businesses to create jobs at an unprecedented rate, you would no longer file income taxes every year, it would have the effect of reforming elections and lobbyists' undue influence on elections because most of what they are lobbying for are tax breaks for special interests, and would increase revenue to the government dramatically as the economy grew.

What about corporations? We're going to continue to carry them? THAT's where lobbyists focus - they just got a huge tax break.

(B.) Passing an energy bill emphasizing alternative forms of energy like nuclear, building additional refineries and drilling in Alaska ( did you know only an area the size of a major aiprort would be needed and it would NOT hurt the environment).

As if the environment was a concern of this administration.
We withdrew from global warming summits, "it would cost jobs" .

(C.) Allowing you young'uns to save for your own retirement by putting part of your social security into your own accounts.

Yeah, why use money to pay out to those old retirees? Let's face it - Social Security is the world's biggest chain letter. Stop signing people up, and it collapses.
By the way, I figured out how the deficit will be taken care of - inflation will kick in in a few more years and a trillion dollars won't seem like much. The dollar is already falling and gold demand is up.

The only president in my life that lives his life the way I hope religions teach is Jimmy Carter. I regret I didn't vote for him.

I, too, think it is good that some of you younger ones are getting interested in voting. However, some of your answers and the ways in which they are presented indicate to me you may want to do a little more research to be better informed next time around. I recommend watching the Fox News Channel, especially the O'Reilly Factor and Hannity and Colmes shows. They do the best job on tv in my opinion of presenting all sides of the issues without the bias you get from the mainstream media (i.e.,NBC, ABC, CBS and also CNN, the New York Times, BBC, etc.) Also, I have traveled quite a bit and especially in the Caribbean there are throngs of Canadians investing, expatriating and in general fleeing from their socialized government and repressive tax system and inefficient health care system. There is no such thing as a "FREE" health care system, folks. NOTHING is "free"! YOU pay for it in some form or fashion. So, just get that idea out of your mind completely. It ain't gonna happen, youngsters. The very best things our President and government can "do for you" is to free you to do for yourselves. This means (A.) Getting rid of our present income tax system and replacing it with the national sales tax system. (B.) Passing an energy bill emphasizing alternative forms of energy like nuclear, building additional refineries and drilling in Alaska ( did you know only an area the size of a major aiprort would be needed and it would NOT hurt the environment). This would help reduce our dependency on foreigh oil and we could tell the Saudis to feed their oil to their camels. and (C.) Allowing you young'uns to save for your own retirement by putting part of your social security into your own accounts. Additionally, we should elimiminate the death tax, the marriage penalty and the capital gains taxes. Bush wants to do all these things in some form or fashion, as well as tort reform which drives up your health care costs. And he also is THE best choice for fighting the war on terror, which is aimed not just at our lives but our economy. I suggest learning the real story behind all these issues and not relying on the likes of Michael Moore and Dan Rather to lie to you next time. And gently, please, could I also suggest some of you work on spelling? I am sorry, but I used to teach English, and those of you who wish to teach really should work on better writing and spelling in order to suceed as a teachers. I know we all get in a hurry typing on here, but if you are still in school do work on better grammar and spelling for the sake of your own future jobs' effectiveness.
You are hilarious. You used to teach English yet you don't know how to use paragraphs to seperate thoughts and you start sentences with the word and. Maybe these kids are some of your former students.

Fox News, O'Reily, and Hannity and Colmes are not even close to "fair and balanced." They blindly support the republicans even if they're being stupid. You'd be hard pressed to make anyone with any free thinking skills watch one of those shows and not vomit.

By now I am sure you think I am an ultra-liberal, which I am not. I am actually on the moderate side of conservative. But to listen to folks tell me how great GWB is for this country, you might as well tell me that Ken Lay sure knows how to run a business.

Crazy Joe,

How do you know you're "on the moderate side of conservative"? How does anyone really know where the middle is? If you based it on what the mainstream media says, you'd think Kerry was just left of center, which shifts the whole scale.

With Fox at least you'll hear from a reasonable conservative from time to time. On the network stations they usually match up the dumbest person they can find from the right with the cream of the crop from the left.

Or they'll have an ultra liberal, a liberal and a radical conservative. The idea there is that the Ultra liberal is presenting the liberal point of view, the liberal is presenting the middle-of-the-road, and the ultra conservative is there to show "how far out there" the conservatives are.

Even when there is a decent panel, they set the stage for the moderate/conservative to fail. For example, they'll have a news story about the "fact" that the US is suffering 99% of the casualties of those fighting the insurgents in Iraq.

But wait a minute... What about all the Iraqs (police and military) fighting for the liberation of their own country from Saddam. I don't know how many there have been, but it's got to be over 500 deaths when you look at all the police station bombings.

If todays media were covering WW2 they wouldn't have counted the French who died trying to liberate France.

You say "that's different", but in reality it only seems different because the mainstream media has set the framework for the discussion: we invaded, instead of liberated Iraq.

Hannity and Colmes IS the most balanced show out there. They will never be balanced to everyone, or to you. You say "Blindly support the republicans" like the democratic supporters dont blindly follow too.
Thanks, you just showed me where your debate skills lie...somewhere on the rim of the toilet. Why is it that every "conservative" I talk to immediately counters any anti-Republican statement with "well but the Democrats are no better/the democrats do it too." NO ****. I don't want anyone from the current regimes. I want people who don't lie to me, who don't abuse the environment, who don't want to redefine words to mean stuff they don't, and who don't sell me out to corporations at the drop of a hat.

"Balanced" isn't a matter of opinion, it's fact. If you put two things on a scale, and one sinks to the bottom, it's not balanced, and no amount of telling me it is will make it so.

Right, because only liberals are capable of using their own free will to come to a decision. I am talking about people who can think for themselves instead of eating whatever pieces of poop are being supplied by the major parties. And they ARE pieces of poop. Apparently you are on a regular diet.

Yeah, and they probably vomit afterwards, as should anyone who watches any of the media outlets in this country, whether it's CBS News, to Fox News, to Pat Robertson. Hell, at least Pat Robertson will call out the Republicans when he thinks they're making mistakes.

This conversation is degenerating rapidly. I think intelligent people can support both sides of the argument, liberal and conservative.

The only difference is that I'm right! LOL

Wow, Right to the insults when someone thinks other than you do.

The show(the single show, not the network) being balanced is a matter of opinion. I think it is, for the most part, balanced. You think it isnt. Opinions at work here. Where do you get your news btw? Every station leans to one side or the other. You have Foxnews on the right, CNN and most others on the left.

I do think for myself and I dont believe everything the republicans or democrats say. I am registered Independent and I vote for the man, not his political party.
