Default Red X = No Photo

Joining this forum has motivated me to start learning how to do some new (for me) things on my computer. Like take and post photos.
As I've read the many threads, I always wondered "Who's the meanie that keeps taking out the pix and leaving a RED X?"
Recently I posted my first photo successfully but it disappeared a few days later, replaced with RED X.
What I discovered was that when I did some house cleaning in my photo page and deleted photos to free up more space, this also wiped out the photo back at the forum. It has to do with the link being gone, I guess. Some of you already knew this, I'm sure, but it cleared up a mystery for me.
Question: Is there a better way to post photos that aren't linked to another page? Could I load them on a disk from the photo page and later post them on a forum from the disk for instance? [:I]

When posting car photos, I like using PT Crusier World. It allows you to upload your photos and link them for free. The nice thing too is that for those who want to view your photos can without having to register. There are alot of photo sites that require you to register in order to view photos. Some people, like myself, don't like to register to alot of sites, since there is a possibility of receiving spam from those sites.

2Step,

At lot of us have gone to www.photobucket.com It's free and easy and can also be set up so others can see your photos without logging on, and it's real easy to pick a photo and post in on any of the forums.

I'm using a friend's Photobucket account, now. I haven't opened my own anywhere yet. The big question I have is, is this the only way to post photos on the forum or is there a way to not have them linked?

As far as I know, that's the only way you get get photo's posted. You can't take them from your home computer, they have to be somewhere on the net first.
