Default garage want list

A friend is about to build a large steel hobby garage. He plans on compressed air, hoists and shelving. He plans on doing normal maintenance, some restoration and storage. What would you put in your garage, what would you change, what would you leave out? This is in So. Cal. so heating-A/C and insulation is not a requirement. Any tips? What about lighting, air line placement, tools, etc? Thanks.

I always liked the old-time garage "pit". A hole with steps at one end, not as wide as a car track - you'd pull car over hole and could change oil, etc, without need for a lift or ramps.

It might be cool to have some nice flooring instead of raw concrete and a wall or two finshed off for putting up posters and memorabilia.

Equip it with a wall mounted vacuum with a long hose, cabinets and counters for tools, exhaust fan, overhead lights as well as a retractable droplight, 100 amp service or more if welding will be done, a 'frige for the beer, and hot and cold running maids.
