Default picture perfect vacation

Just wanted to share a photo of one of my favorite spots we stayed at while visiting Germany and Austria. This place was picture perfect. No cars in town their was a road about halfway up the mountain that went through a tunnel where thier was a parking garage. We took a boat from the train stop, to get to town. The town dates back to the 14th century where it gained it's wealth from salt mines. Now only 1,000 people live thier.

Nice. Pasted thru areas like that back in the early 1970's while touring Europe. You can run out of film real easy with so many breath-taking senery shots like the ones you took. No digital camers back then.

I always wondered where people who live in Hawaii go on their vacations.[8D]

Thanks for the interest!
The town was called Hallstat, in Austria. Its just about 1 hour train ride outside of Salzburg, Austria. I had heard about the beauty of Austria for many years, Some interesting history in Europe, my wife and I save up and go thier once every couple of years. We just pic a country we'd like to see. It's always a eye opener and helps us appericiate variety in life. Travel today is amazing, to be able to go half-way around the world in 1 day and see such contrast, that's one reason we go.
Plus that Gothic stuff trips me out.
One tour guide reminded us thier were no good old days thier. Life was pertty rough. In comparsion the freedoms, and conveniences we enjoy are much greater. This is a pic of Munic, Germany. It Was a scary place just 60 years ago. It is where Hitlor and his SS got thier start.

This city clock tower had, on the hour little dance figures come out, one was a victory dance for king and queen over thier enemies, another was, victory over the black plague. The Black Pluge, and the 30 year war, seem to be just as significant to them as WW11. Munic, was pertty much flatten durning WW11 they are still rebuilding sites, we were told the Germans knew they were going to be wiped out so they took pictures to arcive what a building looked like and then after the war rebuild it from the picture. So much of the old world look in Munic is a copy made since 1945. Interesting hu!

History has only become my favorite subject after I got out of school. Their's a lot they don't teach in books. We did find a good guide book to help us around Europe. The Author is Rick Steves. Europe through the back door. He writes travel books for several European countries. If your on a budget his book will help. Lots of practical guides, cheap and clean places to stay, and eat. Phrases you need to know exct. It was a lot of fun that way you don't feel lost he even had maps of towns. You live on the east coast take advantage of the cheaper air fair to Europe, you'll love it. Only pace I ever got to visit was Vietnam and Australia. I loved Australia.
The building in Munich looks like a sand castle...[8D]
