Default New to the world of Cruisers.

Im a long time Jeeper, having owned 5 of them since high school. But my '00 Wrangler that Ive had for 6 years now is becoming less and less practical for everyday use and I really want to ditch the top altogether and drive it only on sunny days, no matter how cold. So Ive been hunting down something economical and practical for everyday use. I wanted something good for roadtrips and with a useable back seat but Ive hated sedans with a passion all my life. Once I figured out that the PT could be had with a turbo and 5-speed and they were fairly priced thats kinda what I settled on. After driving an '04 GT I decided that it had enough style, performance, and versatility to be my everyday car. But that one had 84K and while it was my favorite color (electric blue) I haggled them down to $7800 and I wasnt convinced. Then I spotted a candy apple red '03 GT 5spd with only 54K on the odo. Its a clean one owner car originally from Reno with a completely clear carfax. Its even got the black leather interior and moonroof. I spent 3 hours haggling these poor guys down and finally scored it for $7900 and got em to throw in an alignment to boot! I dont think i did too bad at all!

'00 Jeep Wrangler Sport: 2" BDS lift and swaybar disconnects, 32" BFG a/t's on Eagle 10-hole wheels. Fabtech front bumper, K&N cold air intake.

'03 PT Cruiser GT 5spd: removed muffler and airbox silencer future planned mods are K&N typhoon intake, 2" rear lowering springs, hopefully some kind of old skool mag style wheels, and possibly at least a stage 1 turbo upgrade. Oh and i GOTTA get rid of those $#@!'in flame decals!

I think you did good too. And you'll enjoy that Getrag tranny, those 5 speeds hold up very well. Welcome to the forums!

They are used in quite a few imports and European models. It's a rock solid tranny. Shame Chrysler married it to a POS clutch...lol...

Funny you said that about the clutch, I didnt like the feel of that at all. Theres like no leeway between 'on the metal' and the friction point...
