Default Now, who can tell me what Ive got?

I looked at an '04 GT before scoring my '03. The '04 had a badge on the gate saying it was a '2.4 Turbo High Output'. My '03 just says 2.4 Turbo. My research tells me the HO version is a 230 hp car, whereas the standard turbo is 180 hp. I drove em both, the '04 HO even had a blowoff valve and K&N cold air kit but outside of a little more whine and the turbo spit, I couldnt tell much difference in how they drove.

Was the GT available with both 180 or 230 horse engines? Does the 180 hp car have an intercooler? Whats really the difference in the 2?

'03 PT Cruiser GT 5spd: removed muffler and airbox silencer future planned mods are K&N typhoon intake, 2" rear lowering springs, hopefully some kind of old skool mag style wheels, and possibly at least a stage 1 turbo upgrade. Oh and i GOTTA get rid of those $#@!'in flame decals!

In '03 the turbo came out, only 1 model - GT - 215 HP.
In '04 they added a low-pressure turbo ( the CPU programming does it) that put out 180 HP and ran on regular. The GT stayed at 215 HP.
The "turbo lite" just said "turbo" on the back and they added "high output" to the GT to distinguish...
The GT has since gained a few ponies over the years (before they dropped it) and the turbo lite remains at 180.
And the turbo lite only comes in auto...

Hey thanks for the info, QSD. So Im sitting on 215 horses guess thats why i couldnt really tell much difference between mine and the HO version. Now, do you know if these are intercooled? And you set up the other question I forgot to ask, whats the recommended fuel for mine? I know 87 wont cut it, but how bout 89, or am I buying premium?

I said this in the other thread, but I know Jeeps pretty thoroughly. When it comes to 'regular' cars, especially fwd turbo cars Im a total noob. I do appreciate the info.

The 03 Turbo GT for some reason did not have the HighOutput on the trunk which started in 04...I added mine...

All turbo PTs are intercooled.
If you have a GT, it's 215HP or better, needs premium, and is "high output", whether it says it or not....

Alright, again good info. Carey, mine looks like yours just before you put the add ons onto it.
