I had to invoke my rights under the Utah Lemon Law for my first pt convertible...although for different reasons, the top and windows wouldn't work and they had my car in the shop for over a month trying everything from troubleshooting to sending a "specialized tech" in from "corporate" to look at it. However, once all the steps had been taken, Chrysler was great to work with and I got all my money back except payments towards the interest on my loan. I applied it towards my new convertible and haven't had any problems except the door lock issue which was repaired within a couple days of diagnosis.
I think a big contributing factor to the ease in which the car was returned and the new one was given to me had was in large part due to the Sales Manager who was very helpful and willing to give me the information I needed to get the process going.
Every state is different, but I'd start there if you haven't already.

Sounds like you have a short in the wiring harness somewhere or the transmission. Electronics can't take much bad wiring. I fought an 89 Dodge Minivan for a year. Nothing looked bad but it would just shut off whenever it felt like it. I finally found another wiring harness for it and never had another problem with it.

My PT had similar issues after it was broken into not only was my deck stolen the ECM was totally shorted out during the breakin. The police want the car driven to the reporting center it wouldn't shift gears and stayed in limp home mode ( Second gear ) The engine light was on the engine would not idle, just stall. $8852 I got my PT back luckly insurance covered it but my rates went up.

Hi, It is a cloth top. I use Outdoor Scotchguard. I tried regular, really didn't last long. It helps to protect against stains.

Haven't seen too many items in your Lava Red...in fact I don't remember seeing any. Find out how far away you are from California Cruisers. If your not too far, they can make anything you want in any color. The problem is their customer service with anyone not in their particular area is....shall we say lacking. But if your close enough to go there, they make some very unique items and you'll be able to personalize your cruiser any way you'd like. Here's their website:

I also have a '05 DC4 convertible, I had to have a spolier and a "Mopar Hot Body kit" painted to match by the body shop. I also orderd 2 spray cans & a touch up bottle from the dealer & painted my center radio console myself, I have checked with all of the major PT cruiser vendors & no body makes anything in the "Hot Lava Red Pearlcoat" color.

As there were only 1548 DC4 Convertibles built, and they were the only PT ever painted that color, there is not that much call for matching accessories.
