The PT convert, along with the corvette convert and the new Z all must roll down the window slightly to open the door. This is the price you pay to have the window seal at high speed without a window frame. If slowing down the time between pulling the handle and pushing the door doesn't work, see if another dealer will help. When we rented a convert for vacation, I could beat the window if I tried, but just slowing slightly and all was better.

Good advice Purple04. You will not be able to open the door until the window drops below the top frame. If the window is not automatically dropping about an inch, you have a problem but it does take a second or two.

I had the same problem with my 2005 PT GT Convert when I first got it. My service tech at the dealership corrected the problem easily enough. There is some type of thin rod in the door mechanism that can get bent slightly and cause this. (With different people test driving or sitting in the vehicle while on the dealership lot and pulling roughly on the interior handle, it can happen.) He just straightened it out and it works fine now. If your dealership is unwilling to take the time to correct the problem...find a new dealership!

I have the same problem here in germany with my windows. What i do is when it sticks i unlock the roof and just push it up a little and then close the door. By the time i get to work the cars heated up enough for the windows to work again

We got our windscreen a couple of weeks ago and had a 70+ degree day last Friday to take it out on a road trip. I would say it cuts the wind coming through from the back by over half and it's worth every penny. We have just left it on even though we've had to keep the top up since then due to cold and rain. It doesn't make much difference in rear visibility in the daytime; we don't drive much after dark, but it was still ok last night when we were driving it... actually pretty good when you consider how irritating car lights coming up from behind after dark can be.
I don't know why these aren't standard equipment with the cars when they are new. Anyway, it'll allow you to take more top-down drives in cooler weather. We got ours through Revel Enterprises. They are pricey from every place I have looked, but well worth it. The only thing I would wish for is an extra layer of screen over the platform part that covers the back seats to cut even more air, but I might change my mind about that come summer.

Tell me, are they hard to install and take off quickly? I don't always have back seat passengers, but when I find I do, will it be hard to quickly remove and store the screen? is there a very noticeable difference in the wind in the driver/passenger sides with it up?

I decided to fix the problem myself. I could have straightened the rod which would have been easier. But, I took the latch out and bent the arm that actuates the lever to unlock the door. I imagine the rod was just too short and since the drivers door gets used the most I'm sure it can easily get bent through use. It is not very heavy and any slight bending can make a big difference. It works correctly now and is a relief to get fixed. To bend the rod it takes about 15 minutes and can be easily done by anyone. If you have a 10mm socket and a phillips screwdriver you are ready to go. Take the door panel off, bend the rod, put the door panel back on and you are ready to go. To me it's not worth the hassle of taking the car to the dealer and hoping it gets fixed along with the time it takes to run the car around town. It takes me 15 minutes to get to the dealer.

Ramon-
I haven't taken mine off since I put it on, but I think it would take only a couple of minutes to take off. Figuring out how to get it on was my problem...[xx(] I just think the trick to it is knowing how to get it on. "is there a very noticeable difference in the wind in the driver/passenger sides with it up?" Absolutely! It makes a huge difference. It's a really nice accessory and I am soooooo glad I bought it. It's well made, too. Update 02/13/05: BIG PROBLEM! Today we went on a little road trip with the windscreen on. There is a "double snap" on the windscreen so that you can snap it to the side of the car and then on top of that, you snap on the convertible boot cover. When we put that on for the first time today since buying the windscreen, the snap from the windscreen to the car side came loose, probably from the pull of the boot in the wind. This wouldn't mean much if you are in city traffic, but out on the highway at 70, it seemed like this battering might destroy the windscreen. The windscreen alone was holding down the heavy boot cover and the elastic from the rearmost straps was really stretching. I bought the windscreen from Revel Enterprises, but there is no tag on the screen or it's case to let us know who manufactures it. I guess I will call Revel and see if anything can be done about this; I think if we had two of those snaps on the side of the car interior, all would be well. This is very upsetting because the car looks *so* good with that boot cover on, but the windscreen is such a bonus that we may never use the boot cover again if we can't come up with a fix.
