Neither of my two cars are economically practical when it comes to gas mileage, but neither is terrible either. The 944 gets 25+mpg (but depends on how much boost, and how hard I drive it – the worst it was ever was 18mpg, running 18-20PSI), and the Cruiser has been getting around 28mpg after the K&N, but it varies quite a bit. I think it has to do with the motor still being new, it has 2,350 miles on it now when I pulled into work.

When you're comparing trunk space, try to keep it an apples to apples comparison. I've owned four convertibles. the PT cruiser was probably the most practical of them when it came to trying to haul stuff. Almost all convertibles sacrifice trunk space. The PTs ability to fold those rear seats down and up, is a huge advantage that most convertibles don't have.

I carried a full height bi-fold door off to Lowe's today in order to get it color matched for paint. With the seats folded down, I was able to angle it and get it all locked down without damaging the seats or trunk. I did cover the tips of the door in order to keep them from gouging anything as a seat back or such. The depth of the trunk is probably the heart of the issue, and not so much the length.

I had to laugh at my blunder, as I had forgotten just how the rear seats fold. I was looking inside for a relase, when it finally dawned on me that the release on my convertible is actually in the trunk. I have to bend over to see them, so I guess I was just missing it.

I have to admit that I always fear poking myself in the eye or adding a crease in my forehead and scalp when I start moving about that opened trunk door and bending over. Maybe a needless worry, but it always comes to mind when the trunk is opened.

All things considered the trunk room isn't too bad for a convertible. That is why I kept my Dodge Grand Caravan Sport so that I can put both my kayaks on top and my 4 windsurfing boards and sails inside it.

I'm a single guy and I guess I just have too many toys....lol.
