You don't actually close the roof by hand. As the roof closes, and it gets close to the last few inches of travel, you stop it from slamming down by slowing down the the roof by using your hand to support it for the last few inches of travel.

That's really odd as my 'vert doesn't do that at all.....it just nicely sets itself in position and I effortlessly turn the D handle. Voila...it's closed.

Maybe my roof has a problem? My roof slams shut if you just let it fall into place when you close it. That is why I have to slow it down when I close it. Does the roof normally close without slamming. If it does, then I will have to get mine serviced.

Yes, they close very smoothly without dropping or slamming, it sounds as though to convertible pump fluid may be low or needs the air bleed out of it.

But the more I think about it, it might just be the manual emergency over ride valve is not turned all the way to the power position, check your owners manual, and it will tell you how to adjust the emergency manual over ride valve to power or manual for the top.

Probably wouldn't hurt to have it checked. As I mentioned, when I close mine, it slowly lowers itself into place and then I turn the D handle.

You're welcome, I just had my header piece replaced yesterday. As was previously mentioned, the the end screw holes aren't even used in the replacement piece.
