Default From Beige top to Black top, is it possible?

Hi guys,

I need some help with ideas to convert (heh) my 2005 PT Cruiser GT convertible from a beige top to a black top.

Talked to the dealer, they want over $2000 for the top plus installation.

Anyone have any other ideas? Maybe dying the top? A local convertible top shop? Stealing a black top from a wrecked PT Cruiser convertible?

I just purchased another cruiser yesterday, got a great deal on it, but the top is beige and not black. It looks a bit off with the company logos on it and such.

Thanks!

You've already come up with the two best ways to save money. Die it black or see if a salvage yard has a black one. Good luck.

Anyone know any internet linked ones/search engines? (I know, that would be too easy). Just need to find a list of them in the SF Bay Area.

Also, I wonder how difficult it is to remove the top itself from the junkyard? I don't need to the install myself, but I'd probably pull the part.

Thanks for the tips guys.

P.S. Oh yeah, and I'll need to scrounge up a black grill too!

Here's what the first PT Cruiser looks like (Black Top), and this is before I do the suspension next week:

Have you looked at this web site (Topsonline.com) for convertible tops? It even comes with a warranty. I have not had any experience with them but maybe other members here may have. Is this vendor on the good list? The link below is what tops they list for the PT Cruiser with pricing. Hope this helps.

Convertible tops, mazda convertible tops, custom car truck interiors

Dozer

What am I missing here? Your subject line says from beige to black and yet I see a black top on the car.

Regards
