Convertible Top Care

I bought our 2005 PT Cruiser GT Convertible last month. It is a sweet ride and I want to keep it looking new. My wife wants to take it through a car wash. I am worried about detergents fading the top. Any thougths on this would be appreciated.

If it is ok to go through a car wash will wax from the car wash affect the top?

I do not put my vert through the car wash .....but either way buy some Raggtop RaggTopp 2141 Farbric Protectant ...I bought mine at Amazon for $17.95....a spray on....no mess item....many people here seem to say it works. Be sure to buy the one for cloth....

I would not worry about the car wash, I have a 2005 Dream Cruiser 4 with a burgundy convertible top and have been taking it through the car wash 4 to 6 times a month for the last 2.5 years, and just had some work done to replace the header panel and the hidden material under the panel still matched the outside exposed top as far as color and feel.

I also agree as to get and use some "Ragg Topp" brand fabric protectant that has a UV protectant in it at least once a year or better yet every 6 months.
