Default purchasing first PT

I’m considering purchasing my first PT a base ’05 vert W/ 52K miles and 5 speed trans. The asking price is $9900.
My question to all of you is
1. Is this a fair price?
2. Are there any particular problems to look for?

Unhappy Re: purchasing first PT

Sounds like a lot of $$ for the mileage, unless it's a "special car" like my soonercruiser. Have you checked out eBay? that's were I found a rare 2006 GT tan top & interior convertible with extra low mileage for $17,500.

It does seem high...in NY....there are 4 cars on Autotrader.....a GT for $11000.00.....a vert with low miles non gt for $7900.00.......do a search on Edmunds.com and see what is in your area.....these are car dealers with warranties..

Thanx for all the input!

I’ll defiantly be getting a better price or some upgrades thrown in (cruise, fog lights etc...) from the dealer before signing.

I really appreciate your opinions, and will update you all as to the outcome.

PS.

I know that these cars aren’t mileage kings but can anyone comment about the MPG difference between a turbo lite (180 HP) and a base assuming a 5 speed on both.

You can only get the turbo lite with automatic.
I had both, and actually get about a MPG MORE with the turbo lite than I did with my '02 - all on regular gas.
I just calculated overall mileage:
56,279 miles, 2,246.778 gallons of regular, 25.049 MPG!
At 50,000 miles it was 24.95, so it does creep upward.
It was around 24 even with the '02.
If you can live with an auto, get the lite - you won't be sorry.
