I have a 2007 and it also has a slight foward bend. Looks like to me that in a normal seated position the back rest is anywhere from 27 to 37 deg. torwards the rear and the forward bend in head rest post brings it back to zero. Which is where if I were hit in the rear I would want the head rest to be. Not to far back/forward defeats the purpose, but then again mine looks and feels great. Hope you figure it out, don't need no " pain in the neck".

At 5' 8". My Cruiser fits me, too!
Although, one of the things I did, to adjust both, of my PT Cruiser's, headrests (2001 and 2006) to fit me... Was a very simple fix, just lift up, on the small lever, on the left side, of the driver's seat, and tilt the back of the seat, a little bit, towards the rear, of the car... ; ) Happy Christmas! Enjoy that new Cruiser!!

My experience with my 2005 GT vert was weird.....the headrests were not painted / stained properly....they are the kind that have the hole in the square style ...when the dealer replaced them....they said it was suppose to be the rounded kind with the seatbelt holder on the side...also much more comfortable...
