Default Heater problem

Just purchased a "new" '07vert. Yes, believe it or not we do get some cold mornings here in Myrtle Beach, SC. When selecting the heater flow to just under dash, barely anything comes out. However, the defroster is working. Also the air flow selector buttons do not light up so I don't know if I'm circulating outside air or recirculating inside air. Dealer says both situations are design problems from Chrysler and can't be fixed. They suggested contacting Chrysler. He says if enough people do, they might address it. Anybody having same problem or am I getting snowed in Myrtle Beach?

Thanks

There's a lot of vehicles that don't have a strong flow under the dash (for your feet), I don't think it's just a Chrysler problem. As far as the knobs go, the recirculating air gives you more flow (at least on my 01) so listen and feel the flow of air and when it's higher that means it's on the recirculating side.

I can't believe how many cost saving measures Chrysler made on the PT since mine was made. I guess the lighted dial is just one more of the cost saving things to add to the list.

I've been in my cruiser at -15 F and could get my feet to sweat with heat directed down.
1) Temp gauge has to be at operating temperature.
2) turn fan into red area a click or two - I haven't needed more than 2 clicks.

If the temp gauge isn't mid-way, you'll freeze, but a mile or two of driving should be all it takes to warm up.

I keep mine on outside air, but it makes sense that recirculate would be warmer.

You might have an air duct hose off or the directional flap not working - find another dealer that isn't so lazy and dishonest.

Buttons? There are 2 buttons surrounding the fan speed selector, at the bottom (6 o'clock position) is the air recirculation switch, when it is lit, the air in the car is being recircuilated. At the left side (9 o'clock position) is the AC switch button, when lit, the AC is on. In order for either to light up, the fan must be on.

Unless I'm missing something here, your fan isn't on??

Unhappy Re: Heater problem

BTW, on my 2006, when you slect air at the feet, or feet/dask combo, you can't use the recirculation. Use can only use recirc on the first 2 or 3 left hand settings.

I have an '05 vert that turns into a rolling sauna even in west michigan winter. you have a problem if you don't get heat with a fully warmed up engine. find another dealer.
