Another Newbie

To celebrate the Indian Summer of this week, I bought a 2005 Black Convertible GT. It's a fun car with a soul. The five speed is a great improvement over the last five speed Mopar I drove, a 1986 Laser XT.

I'm already working on a few improvements to make it more mine. I have a six CD changer on the way. I'm trying to find a six way power seat (or at least the base to add to it. I'm going to change it to synthetic oil in the next week.

I do have a couple of questions.

I can't find the recommended tire pressure (it has the 17 inch rims and Goodyear tires). I've checked the manual and where Chrysler says there should be a sticker.

Is there anything to be gained by using a drop n K and N filter?

WELCOME to the forum.

There's no reason at all to ever take the sticker off the edge of the door, UNLESS the car has been in a crash and has been repainted. Look for other signs of body work.

Meanwhile keeping the tires anywhere around 36 psi (measured when cold) should be fine.

Along with the drop in K&N filter, look around in the filter boxes for any white circular plastic donut pieces and remove them. They restrict or narrow the air passages so your letting more air IN without them.

I don't think its been in an accident. The CarFax report was clean. It also has the other stickers such as build date and jack points.

Who knows what happened to it.

Agree with the 36 psi on the tires. Will really help with tread wear, as long as you rotate them & keep them in balance. If you want a softer ride, you can come down a couple of psi, at the expense of wear & gas mileage.

Look before you leap on the power seat!
Try taking a firm 3 inch pillow and sitting on it while you drive. It will give you a feel for how much "higher" the power seat is. Some folks don't like it much. I've got both a base model, and GT Vert with power seat - the difference is significant. But, I will live with it myself.

I played "deer tag" and my driver's door on my '02 was either repaired or replaced (forgot) and the sticker was gone.
Not all accidents get reported to carfax.
