Top speed on a GT auto convertible

I know this is a touchy supject with some people but I was wondering if the top speed on a convertible GT was the same as a hardtop GT? Any difference with the top up or down? Auto or 5 speed? I know the computer will shut a hardtop around 125 mph.

20 to 29 MPH..... $205.50
30 MPH & Over... $305.50

Point Values

The following infractions will result in six points against your license:

* Leaving the scene of an accident with damage of at least $50

* Speed violations resulting in an accident

These infractions will earn you four points:

* Driving recklessly

* Moving violations that cause an accident

* Attempting to pass a school bus that has stopped

* Exceeding the posted speed limit by 16 mph or more

* Ignoring traffic control signals or devices

Point Maximums

Your license may be suspended if you incur the following points:

* 12 points within a 12-month period―30-day suspension

* 18 points within an 18-month period―three-month suspension

* 24 points within a 36-month period―one-year suspension



Now that everyone knows what their facing (if on a public road), I think the answer to your question is that if the computers/limiters are set the same, up to the limit of the PT's (about 125mph) both the hardtop and Vert can reach that speed. The Vert with the top down might struggle a bit more against the air turbulence but will reach it with enough distance to run.

I saw the digital reading of 155 on the track at Donington in England in my 87 Vette but we aren't talking about performance/sport cars.

I have an 06 GT High Output Convertable which I had up to 120 -- I think it wanted to go faster-- I got a ticket and didn't even know I was going 100 --- It didn't feel like it. This was the first ticket that I ever got in my life! My bf got me a radar detector...

Going as those speeds, the only thing the detector will tell you is when to get out your license and registration. You won't even need to see the flashing red and blue lights.
