I had a Steel Blue 2002 that we bought used, traded it in for a Black 2006 Limited because I liked the silver dash set up. We now have a Silver Steel which also has the silver dash. I was able to remove most of the "bling" I had installed on/in the Limited and reinstalled it on the new Touring. You are right, the "beauty is in the eye of the beholder". With the 2006 we went to 6 car shows and came home with 5 awards, this car and the others are our daily driver.

Personally I hate the look of the new cruiser, but I like three things about it. I like the new head lights, they have more personality, but the new grill destroys any shred of personality the head lights may have created. I also like the Sound proofing, quieter is better, it improves the minute semblance to a luxury vehicle that the cruiser had, and lastly, the power increase to the engine, still nowhere near what you would expect from a car that looks like a hot rod crossbreed. One thing I wish that the original design had was bumpers that were chromed and possibly styled like the thirties bumpers where it extended out from the car on two metal brackets. I may explore modding the headlight cut outs in my 03' to accept 06' head lights.

I was trying to stay with the origional posters question about price etc, and not degenerate into which design is better, because no matter which one you like, it won't change anything.

But since I own and drive both, I'll tell you a few of the not so obvious differences.

1) 2003 pings only once and lights up a seatbelt light if you don't wear one, while the 2008 pings loudly and repeatedly until you buckle up.

2) The 2003 has an air conditioning dial that can be left on either recirculate, or vent in fresh air, while the 2008 has a button that has to be pressed every time you start the car if you want to recirculate air, and if you forget it brings in outside air.

3) The 2008 lets you listen to the radio and roll down the windows even after you take out the key for ten minutes, while the 2003 radio and windows only work when the key is on.

4) The 2008 has "Miles to Empty" until you get to 30 miles then it reads "Low Fuel", while the 2003 only has a low fuel light.
