Default Convertible Beltline Popped Loose

Hi Fellow Cruisers,

I noticed this past weekend when washing the cruiser the rear beltline was loose. Has anyone else had this happen? and what did the dealership do? I took the car today to my service guy at Chrysler and he said should be able to tighten it up, couldnt explain why it would come loose.

Dropping it off in the AM to make sure things are perfect!
Will keep you posted.

Unhappy Re: Convertible Beltline Popped Loose

Chris!
How timely!
Mine just popped loose on the 2006 GT vert, The Black Sheep, this weekend. We were at the Midwest Regional PT event, and I had a few fellow Cruiser help me pop it back down. But, it didn't stay there. The next time I put the top back up, it popped up again. My vert was purchased used on the Left Coast last NOvember, and only has about 14K miles on it.
**Looks like 1 or 2 of the retaining screws tore loose from their positions in that trim (you have to look down the inside). And there seems to be another small trim edge below it, that was forced down out of sight when the top was going down.
I will be at the dealer next Monday to replace the battery connector (another post about "corrosion"), and the service manager wants to look at it first before he orders any parts. My guess is there will be two trim pieces ordered and replaced. And, that it isn't going to be easy access to fix!
Will post more later.
(let me know how yours goes)

Fellow Cruisers, Here the scoop , droped the cruiser off this morning at 8:00 and left all day. Received a call about 2:00 advised the origional part cant be repaired due to the screws stripping. My cruiser is still under warranty so they ordered the rear beltline peice (goes across the top of the trunk opening) and will repair it tomorrow.

I asked the dealership how they fix this and he advised the do this very carefully so that they do not damage the top. Looks like this is a tricky repair for do it yourselfers. My side beltline peices have not moved but the rear one moved upwards enough to rub the bottom are of the convertible top just enough to worry me and cause a small gap.

We will see what tomorrow brings, I will keep you all posted.

Happy Cruising!
Chris

Hi Fellow Cruisers, The dealer has successfully replaced the rear beltline molding. Everything fits as it should and looks great. If any of you have this problem moving forward, try and have it done while the car is under warranty.
My dealership told me the part that was replaced was over 300.00 plus the labor, luckily I didnt have to pay this.

Happy Crusing!

Cool Re: Convertible Beltline Popped Loose

Got the Black Sheep to the shop this morning for the popped beltline! Didn't even take an hour. Working fine - and repaired under warranty.
