Can Base upgrade to Turbo

Recently picked up a Silver base model 2007 convertible with 9k miles for $12,000. Seemed pretty reasonable way to get into a car that I've wanted for a very long time. - good timing to, knowing that they're gonna stop making them soon.

Can the base engine be upgraded to the turbo?

This was discussed a lot when the GT's came out. From what I recall, lot of people were saying that by the time you got through, .... you could have paid for a Turbo charged PT from Chrysler.

There used to be supercharger kits that you could add to the standard engine, Kahn I think was the name.

Based on this Chrysler PT Cruiser superchargers and turbochargers looks like there are a couple of manufacturers.

Try your google-fu. I'm sure there's other stuff out there.

Lots of time and lots of money, especially if you have someone else do the work. As SRG said, it would be cheaper in the long run to just get a turbo car, but if you have the time, know how and money it can be done.

Thanks all, it does look like it's going to be more $$ and work than it's worth. There's no "bolt on" solution and the step to the 220+ hp version is a no go. Oh well, I'll just enjoy it the way it is.
