I agree with Mean Green. My PT is Convertible #6 in my life and I've always left the doors unlocked with nothing inside worth stealing. As to the GPS, I take it with me and leave the bracket on the windshield with the power cord draped over it.
I know you can't do this overnight but if it doesn't look like rain, I put the top up with the windows down and lock the doors to set the alarm. The top up keeps the seats cooler in the Carolina Sun.

My lebaron vert can't be locked (locks seized) so it's never locked. Of course looking in you just see a big hole where radio is supposed to be. When I get reAdy to insall a radio it will be out of sight in the back of the glove box with a faux door. Open glove box and see nothing but the faux door. Shouldn't take up more than a few inches of glove box.

Ran 14.84 on my 5th run EVER down the track with the help of a fellow PTer and his 93 tune on his DSP. *Stage 1, DSP w/93 canned tune, 3" o2 housing, 3" FWDPerformance downpipe with cutout.
