Some A-hole cut my top on the drivers side

Hi everyone, Well I knew someday it would happen and that day has come. While staying in a motel in Greenville, SC. Some A hole cut my convert top on the drivers side just behind the small window and the rear window. So at the motel office I showed them, they called the police and did the report and I called the claims office for the insurance. Well Monday they called and said it was covered. But I'm wondering what will be done? Will they replace the entire top or just that side? Any ideas?

If the top is made from separate pieces, they will probably try to match it with a new piece. If it's a big area with no seams you should get a whole new top.

I used to drive a VW Cabario sp anyway I had it parked at church and when i came out some one had cut the top to get the door open to get my tool box-----The insurance paid for a whole top minus 20% for the age and the $500 dectuable so in the end i was right at half what a top cost

Do you lock your car? When I've owned a convertable I never locked the car because then your top will get cut by someone who wants in. I never left anything in the car either to tempt someone. Sorry to hear yours got cut.

As an update, Nothing was stolen in the car, they didn't even bother the GPS unit on the window, the alarm was set and light in the speedo was flashing. They just did it to be rotten jerks, wish I had a Terminator to kick some butt. But anyways the insurance adjustor came out and told me it was fully covered and the whole top would have to be replaced. So now my baby is not a virgin anymore

Glad it's going to work out, but you left your GPS on the window in your vert? Read an article online that said GPS units are getting stolen left and right. Even if removed from the window thieves are looking for the ring the suction cup leaves in the window as an excuse to break in. Sounds like you might want to become less trusting in these trying times. Your GPS will just be another excuse to cut your top again.
