What a difference 30 years makes
30 years did not make much of a wage difference for the retail blue colar worker, job pays maybe 8.50 an hour now and no tips+ look at the cost of living between now and 30 years ago.In my area you could buy a house for 50 thousand now a mobile home is worth 100 thousand

Yes, I remember those days VERY well. My Dad ran a gas station and my brothers and I all got to "help" for free. I got enough experience that I was able to land a paying job at another station in town when I was 13. That was in the summer of '65. I would ride past the Ford dealers lot and they had a '57 T-Bird priced at $850. I wanted that car something awful, but a 13 year old making $1.35/hr didn't have a chance. I did end up buying a 1969 Mustang with a 428 Cobra Jet engine (with shaker hood scoop) from that dealer in 1971 for $2500. That's the car I had when the wife and I got married that summer. Still have the wife, but not the car.

I'm not trying to direct anyone away from here, but if you enjoy looking at old auto genre type photos from the past as I do, you might enjoy this thread that someone else directed me towards:
