Hello..
Has anyone had cases where your driving along and as you go over a joint in the road, say between concrete slabs, have the trunk lock pop? The joint may not be all the rough, a slight bump in the road. And the next thing is the trunk open indicator on the dashboard is lit. Fortunately the lid does not open, at least so far. I was wondering if there is some adjustments that can be made to make the locking arrangement less sensitive to such things. My thanks for your time. pdc |

what year, the ones with the popper in it fail more often then the older style handle latch. It would help us figure it out.
If its a popper style I would say its time to have it replaced since they are known to fail after a couple years. The older style handle not so much, but there could be some adjustment that is needed. Has the car ever been wrecked in the back?

Apologies for going brain dead on the inclusion of details.
2005 convertable with the key fob or button in the glove box. The glove box does not rattle (nor anything in it) and the fob is not colliding with anything when it occurs. The predominance of the cases is as I come off the turnpike exit and go over the joint from concrete to blacktop. Thanks. pdc |

Have you tried taking the surrounding fascia off around the bottom hook and seeing if it's adjustable. It just sounds it's not closing and latching properly and a bump loosens the latch. The fascia just pops off to give you access to the holding screws. See if it moves forward or backward giving it a better latch to the upper mechanism.

x2 And the older style is a manual latch, where you pull up on the center of wings, and its an acutally handle, not a popper.. That was done in 05... If an adjustment doesn't work, its not unheard of for the popper to go bad.
