I just bought an '07 Pt conv. It was pulling to the right, so I took it in and they gave it an alignment. It still pulls or drifts quickly to the right. I took it back in and they basically said that's normal for the PT's. Is this correct? They said they checked everything that might have to do with it pulling and everything is fine. Any suggestions? The car is still under warranty.
Thanks for any advice in advance. Diane |

Welcome to the forum.
I hate it when shops say "it's normal" like the manufacturer put built-in flaws at the factory. Same question at PT_Cuda; does sit pull as your going down the road, on all roads or it it when you put your brakes on?

Yep that can tell us if its torque steer= normal btw, or if it could possibly be a bad tire, rotor, bearing, axle, or something really stupid like air pressure..

Hi, thanks for resonding (all).
It pulls mostly at higher speeds, basically if I let go of the stearing wheel it immediatly veers to the right. Not jerking, just quickly drifting. The salesman even told me they build cars that way so if someone falls asleep it won't crash into other cars....hmmmm. At slower speeds, 30 or so, I can take my hands off and it will go straight. Also, I feel like I am constantly putting more tension on my left arm as I drive as to keep it going straight. |

Diane,
First and easiest things to do is rotate the wheels and make sure the air pressure is correct (all the same) in all 4 tires. Then work from there. Whoever rotates them for you (or you if you do your own work) check out the tires for uneven wear or cupping. Put the best 2 on the front.

Hi, you need a second opinion as maybe the car has been hit, Have someone follow you down the road to check wheather it crabs in otherwords does the car have a tendancey for the left rearwheel to hide the left front and can you see the right front while your driving directly behind you. this is a sure sign of some rear axle alignment problems often caused by bumping a curb with the right rear wheel. Another test you could do is to mesure the wheels from center to center from front to back . it only needs to be a small difference with the left side being slightly longer to cause the drifting right .this is not normal and can probably be fixed at any respectable bodyshop. good luck and hopefully its something simple like the others talked about.
