Been looking on Ebay for a black one....what do these run new?
Anyone know? |

Keep your eyes open on Craigslist. I bought one on there for $100 but then never used it so I sold it.

Black ones are on e-bay but not as much as gray ones you just have to keep checking them. I got a black one on e-bay and later sold it on e-bay when I sold the car, I paid around 140 and sold it for around 140. Just keep checking and you will find on at the right price too.

Want to ask you a question....I get the feeling that most owners don't use the boot much. Why is that?
Is it difficult to put the boot on...or....does it take long to get it on? |
|
|||
|
Yes and yes

Because most of the top down rides are short trips.
(why take the time to put it on; when you'll be back in an hour and be putting the top back up?) When I rarely do a long "cruise", then I do use the boot. (twice in two years) But, place this is context; most all my driving is in soonercruiser. The Black Sheep stays mostly in the garage.

Wayneman it takes less then a minuet to put a boot on and the same amount of time to take it off, fold it and put it in the trunk. If you like the looks of it on the car as much as I did it is well worth it the less then 2 minuets time it takes to put it on and off the car. Oh yea, you have a massage with with a picture from me. Good Luck

As I said in the "Do you use your boot?" thread, I'm somewhat a Top Boot snob. I have to agree with Terry and Decsr. No and No. Once you're used to it the boot takes less than a minute to install. I think you do not see boots on convertibles in general and Cruisers in specific because to carry it around takes up trunk space. Unless it is a ragtop designed not to need a boot (2005 up Mustang, New VW Beetle and Late model Sebring.) a convertible just looks incomplete without a boot. The PT looks "ok" without a boot and I will ride around without one if I have the top down and it looks like rain. I've been this way since my 1964 Comet vert and it was NO picnic to put on. (Although my 1988 Mustang GT was the worst HANDS DOWN!) My $0.02. Your mileage may vary.
