Since I have had my GT Convert less than two weeks..need to ask for some help regarding GT wheels.
I looked on EBAY for a set of '05 GT 5 spoke chrome wheels...it pulled up a seller who had the wheels that he claimed would fit an 01-2010 PT Cruiser, but...... "not for GT Models"... so, obviously the wheels for the GT are different. I also asked a car dealer near me if he would consider letting me swapmy '06 GT Convert. wheels for.... the 5 spoke chrome wheels on a PT Crusier (not a GT nor a vert) on his lot...would those wheels work on my '06 PT Cruiser GT Vert??? If not, do the 5 spoke chrome wheels I prefer....have to be a certain type and size for my GT Convert? Can one of your wheel guys tell me what size and model 5 spoke chrome wheels I would need??? Thanks |

Sorry, can't go into details on dimensions but the GT has larger calipers so any non-GT wheel won't fit. You need a different offset so the inside of the wheel will fit over the caliper. Of course, you can go the other way as the GT wheels will fit any of the non-GT or non-turbo PT's.

Hi Wayneman
Welcome to the forums, I think CREWZIN answered your question, as you can see by my sig and my gallery photos (upper right) my 'Vert is a '05. I put larger wheels and tires on my 'Vert. Terry

In 05 at least, GT's all had 17's, basic models had 15's and midlevel cars including turbo's and all non GT convertibles had 16's. Most GT's seem to have chromed aluminum wheels and some 16" wheels came in chromed versions. I have an 05 PT touring that had the basic brakes and 16" painted 7 spoke wheels. those wheels appear to be the most common on 05 touring convertibles. I have put the GT discs and calipers on my front axle, and they work just fine with the 16" wheels. The overall diameter is not any bigger, the rotors are much thicker than base rotors, and the calipers are then wider to match them. A useful upgrade, as I felt the stock brakes were a little weak. Any 16" or 17" Chrysler built wheel should clear the GT brakes, 16" aftermarket you may need to try on the car. I believe some people were having trouble with the chromed wheels deteriorating at the bead and leaking air. I had that problem on an eclipse I had. I prefer non chromed wheels. If you do get chrome wheels, tire stores have a gummy black brush on compound they can put on the beads if the chrome starts to flake off of the aluminum.
