Noticed my third brake light out today; was able to remove the whole housing, but can't seem to get the lens off to change the bulg. As per the owner's manual, there are two clips?
Is there a trick to this, didn't want to try to force the lens off and possibly break it. By the way, this is the high mounted light on a convertible. Thanks. |

It's been awhile since I messed with it but you did the hard work already. The red lens has a tab on each end. Be very careful and lift both tabs over the gray plastic "things" that hold those tabs and the lens will come right off. It might be easier to un-do the two bolts/screws (one on each end) and take the whole light fixture off to work on the tabs.
Sorry, just read that your is a vert so some of it might be different than what I described but probably the tabs are still there.

Honestly; I don't see tabs on the thing. Is the convertible the same as the hardtop?

Apparently not. Your going to have to wait and hope someone with a convertible comes along with your answer, or maybe a Chrysler tech that has dealt with the 3rd brake light.

According to Chrysler, the lens simply snaps off the housing.

Can't imagine it needs to come apart; I already got the brake light housing out. It's just a matter of removing the red lens...

Stopped by the dealer today;was told that the third brake light on the convertible does not come apart and an entire new unit is needed.
Has any convertible owner out there had to change out their light? |

I have a convertible and the high-mount brake light is out on it too. I was told by a tire changer that the bulb is actually an LED strip and that it costs +$100 CDN. I didn't believe him and took the inside cover off to have a look. Guess what I found, an LED strip. I'm not sure if the strip is faulty or if it's an electrical problem. I've not gotten out the tester to see. In any case, I don't think it's going to be easy or cheap to fix.
