Default 2005 vs 2007?

This is truly a last-minute casting of the info-nets--I suddenly find that I must go out tomorrow to shop a Cruiser convertible, my first, only a few available in my area, and I'm wishing I could know:

Are the differences between the 2 years (whatever they are?) very significant? One parameter that's pretty significant for me is quietness.

How important is the turbo? Is it a plodder without & zippy with?

Of course, any advice in general is gratefully received . . . . shopping begins at noon! (but may not even conclude tomorrow, so feel free to post . . . )

thanks y'all . . . Mark

Cool Re: 2005 vs 2007?

Welcome to the forum Mark.
I have two (2) 2006 PTs, and can give you a comparison.
Soonercruiser is non-turbo 5 speed. It came a little sluggish on the pedal with the OEM air box - designed to reduce engine noise. Soon after, I bought an AirRaid aftermarket air intake system (opens the breathing, and you get a much better pedal response). Opening the breathing, and the 5 speed are plenty of get up and go.

The Black Sheep (FOR SALE BTW) is a GT convertible, High Output turbo, leather. etc. This is a real perfromance automobile. But, the turbo needs premium gas, and being a turbo and auto tranny suffers for gas limeage. (best I have gotten is nearly 24 on the highway with no ac on.)

The other folks on the forum can tell you the years that they produce a Turbo-Lite, whch only need regular gas.

Where are you at?
If not sold, I am trading in the GT convertible late this coming week.2006 GT Convertible w/ Mods
$11,000 OBO!
Mint condition!

Default Re: 2005 vs 2007?

Hi Frank, thanks for the welcome & the reply. I'm in New Mexico, looks like you're in Oklahoma? If we were closer I'd surely come take a look, but . . . . as gorgeous and well-tuned & modded as your car looks, I'm averse to having to get locked in to premium. If you don't mind my asking--I'm looking at a regular '05 Touring vert that's turbo-- is that the Lite, using regular? Did you find that the Air-Raid system made a big improvement, ie. strongly recommended? Did it increase the noise? And how about their throttle spacers?---Any other highly recommended mods?

thanks--me, Mark
