Lot of dependencies there. Here's what you have to think about:
  • Where do you live at and what's the prevalent weather like?
  • Do you wash it by hand or go through the Reaper?
  • How often do you wash it?
  • How often do you take it down?
  • Do you get much snow?

Probably lots of other things I could think of if I wasn't too tired. I wash mine a lot since I show it from spring through fall. I take it down a lot, so it get's pressed a lot and shows the "rib" marks. I have a fairly hot summer and lots and lots of pine pollen in the spring and fall. These all contribute to the wear and tear. So I treat mine about once every three months. If you were in Florida, say, and you kept your top up most of the time, and you only hand wash the car, then once a year is likely more than enough.

If you go through the winter with it sitting outside in the snow, then you'd better treat it every spring and every fall at minimum or your top won't last more than 5 years. If you're in the desert and it sits out in the sun and gets a lot of sand blasting, better do the same, but then once a month during summer!

Also, make sure you get nothing but the best rag top cleaner and treatment. And make darned sure the treatment has UV blockers in it. Otherwise, you're wasting your time.

Last, the tops tend to collect dirt and are sometimes hard to hand wash, but please try to refrain from using a brush across it unless it's an incredibly soft brush!

Oh, yes, don't EVER point a pressure washer directly at your top, you will kill it!

Okay, time for all the nay-sayers to speak up!

car is garaged most of the time. mostly fair weather use. top still beads water when washed. was concerned that dealer info on only re treat when water won't bead could be wrong. want to take the best of care , as this car will be a keeper!
what product do you use for treatment?
have used scotchguard on sebring convertible i had before the pt. have a friend who only uses the mopar brand.
thanks for the help.

I treat every fall. I either use the Viper treatment sold by the dealer, or RaggTopp. 303 is crap.

I only did mine once a year. But, it was garage kept; and low mileage.
