Hi,

I am in NJ and looking for an 05 convertible. I would prefer auto trans, leather, GT. Is there anything I should be aware of when shopping for one? any known issues? how are the PT's in the snow? any info is much appreciated.

thanks,

G

well your questions of how are PT's in the snow a lot of us have had a good chance to find out Id say they are as good as most better than some and maybe not as good as a 4x4

Why do you want a auto??? just asking but a turbo has to be more fun with a 5 speed plus the 5speed tranny will hold up better in the long run
if you get a older PT and it is aroun 100,000 miles make sure the timing belt has been changed or you will be adding between $800-$1200 for a belt change water pump serpentine belt and tensioners

other than that the wheel bearing and if you are thinking about MPG figure around 20ish

Turbo really needs synthetic oil. If regular oil is in it, I'd shy away.

There are 2 turbos - one came on Limited - and used regular gas, other was GT and needs premium and came w/17" wheels. I believe you could get either w/leather.

Besides the high-output turbo, I believe most '05 GT's came with leather heated seats, in-dash 6 CD player, traction control and 17 inch rims (although there were a couple of different styles).

Cool Re: New to the Forum

Are you buying for future use?
If so, what's gas prices like in Jersey?
Auto, and turbo decrease gas mileage.
And turbo should have premium......more expensive!
Just sayin'.
I just traded the 06 turbo vert for a auto 2010 Couture.
(Yes! I'm an old guy.)

We have a 06 GT Conv with Leather, Auto Transmission, and the high output Turbo, Here's what it looks like and the 05 should be close.
