Default Mileage with top up or down?

Curious... anyone ever check if there is a difference in MPG with the top down vs up? I know it might not be much of a difference, just wondering....

I doubt very much if this has ever been addressed. If you have a convert. try it and let us know. Keep in mind that you will have to run through at least a full tank (preferably two) of gas with the top down for every mile to get an accurate figure. That's why I say that I doubt if it's been done.

there might not be a difference or there might be a slight change. like in trucks, when you have the tail gate up, an air bubble forms in the bed allowing the air to pass right over it. When the gate is down the air pushes the truck down making it seem like it's dragging something. so i don't. but i go with what wwpptc said, just try it and see what happens.

mythbusters did a thing about mpg in trucks with the tailgates, the differences were so small it wasent worth anything, but the test did show that with the tailgate removed and a lil net in the back actualy got better miles for some reason, but only a small fraction. like i said, the difference was so small it didnt do much at all.

The real question is .....If you do get better MPG with the top up are you going to just never put the top down? Also an observation ......PT don't get high MPG anyway so the question is moot......just messin around but I doubt it's much better either way.
