Default control arm bushings replacement

...let me start off that I'm not a mechanic & have zip knowledge. I have a 2005 Pt Cruiser Convertible that I love dearly...dearly enough to have bought the same model when I wrecked my last one...(severe and brutal tears, TRE pissed) Car only has 30,000 miles on it and already needs the control arm bushings replaced.

I've been reading about how polyeurethane control arm bushings are more durable and last longer. I'm looking into purchasing some.

I've been reading that the color pertains to density? Do I want red or black? Can anybody tell me? I don't want to get the wrong parts...

Not sure that color means anything.

I'd just get Moog from Rockauto. They're used by mechanics (they don't
want to do the job twice).
I have poly on my beloved Neon. meh.

I had posted a how-to with pics. Dunno if it was stickied.

I agree, moog! But do yourself a favor.... Buy the whole control arm instead of replacing the bushings! It's a pain in the *ss! Trust me, changing the whole arm is a hour job!

I'd guess the ball joint and front are good.
The rear bushings pretty simple to R&R.
IF the car isn't rusty, yep it's bolt on, bolt off.
If your car is newer, and the bushings aren't bad, strongly recommend
removing bolts and doping 'em up with permatex #3.
You will use the Lord's name in vain if you don't!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So, you don't think that the Poly lasted longer? I've only got 30,000 on this thing, and I don't want to do it again soon...

Well, I hadn't considered it, but I think I'll take your advice and check out whole control arm units

Actually, the ball joints have already been replaced. Did them bad boys one at a time due to lack of funds...now the car vibrates a little more. It's the front control arm bushings that the shop said need to be replaced..haven't a clue how to remove the bolts n' batter them up w/ permatex.

We put the energy suspension brand in one of our 01 Limited's about 10,000 miles ago.

We used the black ones, at the time we bought the Energy Brand color meant nothing other than color.
We really liked them initially, nice, a bit firmer feel, no negligible road noise change.

We had ball joints, tie rods, and stabilizer bushings,<- (Energy) all done at once.

After a full fairly tough winter here they have developed a much looser feel, not saying its a bad thing, but it is not as tight & firm as it was. Could be we need new struts though, they now have 135,000 miles.
