Default What was I thinking?

Well tomorrow makes a month since I bought my 05 Touring Turbo vert. and I love the car! However, I got to wk late today so I didn't take the time to back it in, I went over the parking block and went on my way, but later when I left as I backed out I could here the scraping of my front spoiler then a loud pop! I got out to see and I was not so happy to find that I cracked the spoiler on the side!
I know it's not a big deal, it's about a 3 inch crack but it kills me!
So I am here to ask if anyone knows where I can find a replacement kit? Will it be expensive? Do they come painted or will I also need to get it painted?

Ouch!

The easiest way to fix it is to well.. Idk! You could try melting it back together form behind via the wheel well, or glue. Bondo maybe? Nonetheless there are screws right ove where it broke that hold the fender onwhich is why it chose there to brake. Youre fortu ate not to have more damage. Take it to an auto body shop to appraise. Its really not that bad

Nope, that is one of the worst spots to tear your front bumper facia. There are two bolts holding that piece in place (two on each side, driver's and passenger's) and a riveted piece of backing underneath. There is no way to repair it without getting into fiber tape and doing a lot of patch work, and then the bumper facia ends up looking low on one side. It really sucks to tear it there. Any place else I could tell you how to rivet it back together, sand it smooth and fill it in with body filler, sand and paint. That spot however is not really repairable. You may find some body shop who has an expert at plastic welding but I really don't think it'll be fixed correctly.

Hate to say that, but I'm on my second facia and have seen others try to repair that section and it just makes it look ugly.

Here's a couple listings on ebay:

2001-05 Chrysler PT Cruiser Front Bumper Primed NEW

01 02 03 04 05 CHRYSLER PT CRUISER FRONT BUMPER PRIMED

If you search ebay, you'll find lots of the, from around $100 to nearly $200, all different conditions and paint. Now from the bottom left of your photo, you also have a ground effects kit on your PT, you'll want to take that off and attach it to the new bumper cover.

This is one of the reasons I hate parking blocks. Most of them were installed 20-30 years ago when cars had more ground clearance... now instead of gently stopping your tires they tear up your front end.

Same goes with parking spaces. When most parking lots were designed cars were a lot smaller and narrower. Now you can barely fit a mid-sized vehicle in them.

Well, I went outside this morning to see what the hubby was doing, found my PT front end taken apart! He knows I can't bare to watch him take it apart so he kept hush. He used crazy glue & fiberglass to put the crack back together and reinforce it. (not sure yet what the plan is to fill it in), but it looks a lot better now.

After

My hubby says he can fill in and sand it and that there's a guy that drives to your home and does touch-up paint on stuff like this, so might do that or take it to Carsmetics (minor repair shop in town)...baby steps.

Very nice work!!!! Me, I'm no good with glass, so I just coughed up the digits for a new one. Tell him he did an excellent job! Fill that in, sand and paint, and you won't even know.
