Default Help with Smokey the Cruizer!

2005 PT Cruiser Touring Edition Turbo 2.4 liter Convertable

My recent problem has been driving me nuts! I know there are lots of oil consumption posts but I still need info PLEASE!! I am smoking, but not ALWAYS... it could be running fine then suddenly ... click... and it is running rough and smoking... I noticed it happening at about 2500 rpm... sometimes sooner. It coded the cam sensor... changed it... It coded O2 sensor... changed BOTH! NOW it is coding P0003 Fuel volume Regulator Control Circuit Low ... and P0200 Injector Circuit ... ALSO ... P3FE0 <----- ??? can't find the explanation on that one :-( As I was reading I was thinking Turbo problems (but not sure) there is oil in the air intake and I am assuming that oil is slipping by somewhere ( valve seals?? grrrrr ... I have been doing the work myself but getting to a point where i will have to seek out other help soon if I can't find the problem. What's a girl to do!!! HELP!!! PLEASE!!

Poppy,

Looks like your gonna need professional help with this one. The codes (except that last one) point to a general problem but not enough information to pinpoint exactly what it is. I do know from reading the forum that oil in the air intake, especially on a turbo model, is normal and lots of owners put in a catch can to help with that. Your going to half to find a dealer or mechanic with and OBDII scanner that will help narrow down your problem.

Thank you CREWZIN! The car drives good at lower rpm. when does the turbo kick in? about 2-2.5k rpm? More and more it feels like a turbo problem to me. What are some of the major symptoms of a turbo problem CREWZIN? Thank you again in advance

Ah, don't have a turbo and never had one so hopefully the guys that do have one will see this thread and jump in to tell you what to look for.

Google failed.

This fault code is a GERENRIC fault code, some cars may change the meaning of this fault code.
It's not in the '03 FSM.

Doubt it's valve seals, Oil from rings / turbo shaft seal more likely.
Downshift from high RPM, see if it blows the blues.

could be a different vapor; fuel or coolant.

I drove it today and stayed under enough RPM to kick in the turbo..... but then.... I did excelerate enough to see ... and it smoked and only burns off what oils got past and then it is back to running fine. So yes it did So do you think it is the turbo UptownSport? at idol and non-excelerated driving LOL .... it is ok. I can see getting a fuel related code from this because it is not only trying to burn fuel but sputtering from the oil in the mix... like bad gas. whatcha think UptownSport?? OR anyone else with advice

Don't know anything about turbo's.

Does it have excess oil consumption?
Excess coolant loss?
Fuel usage?

Have you changed PVC and completed a check on hoses?
Lots of oil in airbox?

I should've mentioned basics first instead of jumping towards hard parts.
