Default New to us PT

Just purchased a 2005 Cruiser GT with 2.4 Turbo High Output automatic. It's a red in color (PEL) with a tan top. So far my wife and I love it. It's going to get snowy here soon but maybe one short top down trip in the next few days. Looking for some nice accessories so any sites you would recommend appreciated. I'm kind of looking for a convertible top boot. I won't need it until next spring but our car came without it. Is the boot supposed to match the top color, or the interior seat color or none of the above. Well I hope to learn alot from this forum. Thanks for any help or advise. Is the turbo in this car dependable or am I going to have problems with it.

Welcome to the forum. As far as accessories go is a good place to buy from and there are also a lot of parts on ebay.Ebay is also a good place to look for the boot. The turbo in these cars is pretty dependable but you need to make sure you run premium fuel and synthetic oil.

Myself if your driving it in the winter would be a set of winter rims and some good snow tires. You will thank your self.

The turbo itself is good, assuming your new to you Gt has been maintained.

Run synthetic oil only and keep the intervals reasonable.

If you dont know the history maintenance wise I would change the coolant, use mopar orange or zerex HOAT, if auto trans change the filter and fluid ATF+4 only.

Get a turkey baster and suction out the fluid in your power steering reservoir and refill with ATF. Do it a few times to freshen it up, your pump and rack will thank you.

Main issues are worn LCA bushings. Buy the whole LCA from Rock auto and replace them.

Change your plugs , I prefer the copper Champions and get a good set of wires, I like MP Perf Blue, some like magnecores. WIll make a nice difference.

Get a spare mopar cam position sensor, they tend to fail after 100K or so and you can change them in 5 minutes.

If your around 80K get the timing belt, tensioner, water pump, acessory belts change, will run some $ but better than taking a chance.

OK, now! This is a great idea and I may start packing a spare sensor in the back of the cruiser, weight and gas mileage be damned. I've long been partial to carrying tools and spares on my rides.
The idea, though, does leave me laughing about how far we've come in a century of automotive technology since the early years of regularly carrying tools and spares.

Hi and welcome. Your GT sounds just like mine.

I hate it when people trade cars in and don't include all the original equipment, both keys, etc. I know from the build sheet that mine came from the factory with a boot for the top, but I sure didn't get it.
