Default Dash light out

Ok, so the wife tells me the other day that the light behind her gas gauge has gone out. Haven't really ad a chance to look at it. I'm hoping it's like 3 screws to get the panel off and a quick change of a bulb.

Has anyone done this? What am I looking at?

You are looking at removing the power window switch, the radio surround fascia, both "A" pillar covers, the entire dash top panel, the gauge cover and the instrument panel.
I think it is only seven screws and three electrical connectors.

This might be for the wrong year, but you'll get the idea:

PT Dash Lamp Replacement

Ok, so before I dove into the dash, I decided to call my local Dodge Dealer, just to see what they would charge, to see if it was worth my time.

They claimed they couldn't give me an estimate because they couldn't even be sure it actually as the bulb. They said it might be the cluster, and they'd have to diagnose it before they could give me a real number.

Now, I've had issues with these guys trying to get me to do extra work that's not needed (especially for state inspections). Is this cluster issue a reasonable precaution or is it something that is very rare and they are just trying to gouge me?
