DaimlerChrysler Canada launches 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser Convertible as lowest priced soft-top in Canada
- 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser Touring Convertible MSRP is $26,995 - Flair, versatility, comfort, performance and quietness in retro-style soft-top - True four-seater capacity WINDSOR, ON, Jan. 29 /CNW/ - DaimlerChrysler Canada announced that its new Chrysler PT Cruiser Convertible will be the lowest priced convertible in the Country. The four-seater 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser Touring Convertible will have a manufacturer's suggested list price of $26,995. Canada's newest convertible has delivered on the promise of the styling study vehicle based on the retro-styled sedan with a combination of styling, versatility, comfort, performance and quietness. It also builds on Chrysler's convertible leadership. "People wanted us to build the Chrysler PT Cruiser Convertible so we did, but we did it at a price that's as attractive as its looks," said Ron Smith, Vice-President of Marketing, DaimlerChrysler Canada. "The new PT Cruiser Convertible is a true four-seater that surpasses its competitors with more than just style." The cool style of the PT Cruiser sedan is carried over on the convertible but with the added flare of a power top and colour-coordinated overhead sport bar with built-in lighting. "Smart glass" automatically adjusting windows provide cool sophistication. Its versatility is unbeatable with fold and tumble 50/50-split rear seats and nine different seat configurations, including a trunk pass-through big enough for two golf bags and more interior room that its competitors. The PT Cruiser Convertible is the only vehicle in its class to offer the choice of two turbocharged engines. Even with the standard naturally-aspirated 2.4-litre four-cylinder engine, the structurally reinforced body has the stiffness that ensures handling performance. Even driving with the top down, the driving performance is quiet. Extensive acoustic wind tunnel testing resulted in "picnic table" conversation levels while driving due in part to an exclusive sport bar. The Chrysler PT Cruiser Convertible is a true four-seater with bucket- contoured rear seats. Front bucket seats have an easy-access feature and memory on the front passenger seat so it returns to its previously set position. Two models of the new soft-top will be offered in Canada. The PT Cruiser Touring Convertible features the standard 150-horsepower engine and five-speed manual transmission. An optional 180-horsepower engine and four-speed automatic transmission, side airbags and navigation system are available on the Touring model. The PT Cruiser GT Convertible includes a 220-horsepower High Output Turbo engine and Getrag heavy duty five-speed manual transmission with traction control, sport suspension and leather seats. An optional four- speed automatic transmission with AutoStick(TM) sequential shifter and six- disc CD player are available on the GT. An optional navigation system and chrome clad aluminum wheels are available on both models. The 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser Convertible goes on sale at over 500 Chrysler Jeep Dodge dealerships across Canada in mid-March. It is built at DaimlerChrysler's Toluca (Mexico) Assembly Plant along side the Chrysler PT Cruiser Sedan. Both the PT Cruiser Convertible and Sedan are backed by DaimlerChrysler Canada's seven-year powertrain warranty with roadside assistance. |
