Default Putting 16 inch rims on GT Convertible

Is there anything unsafe or mechanically detremental in putting 16 inch rims and 205 55 R16 tires on my 2005 GT Convertible?

I am not after speed-I want a smooth ride at low speeds

I need new tires and rims and have been offered a good deal on 16's.

Response, please

Thanks

You must make certain the rims will clear the turbo brakes. Other than that, tire choice will probably mean more than wheel size.
16" tires, as a general rule, cost less and last longer than 17s.

Stock oem 15' steel or the 16' alloys will all fit the GT. Aftermarkets should work but need to slip one on the front hub to be sure.
