Default Control Knobs ?

I have 2, 07 Cruisers. One is a base sedan with 3 silver back-lit dashboard control knobs (air flow direction, temp, and fan speed). My other Cruiser is a touring convert with 3 black non back-lit dashboard control knobs. Is this right, I thought all Cruisers had the same. I tried very carefully to take the knobs off with no luck. How do you remove them? I think you see where I'm going with this, I would like to replace my Converts black with the silver to get back-lit controls.

Cool Re: Control Knobs ?

You describe the cars as ..."one is this..."...
Which one is?
I have both Gen 1 and Gen 2 Cruisers.
Both are back-lit HVAC controls.

The Gen 1 (2000-2005) is a 2005 Convertible.
The back ligting is very dim, and was hard to see at dusk.
So, after seeing a thread here about "Instrument Lighting" options, I
not only popped open the HVAC controls and upgraded the bulbs....I wired in two extra LEDs to make the left & right edges brighter.

I will try to "search" the "Interior Accessories" Forum for that thread.
But, you could do the same. I would say it was almost a year ago.

The light isn't in the knob, it's in the display around the knob. Your going to have to pull the center bezel out

Chrysler PT Cruiser: The lights on the air/heater knob is out.

Thanks for the info! I thought all I had to do was pull off the knobs and switch them. Now I know I have to replace the whole control!. How do I get the bezel off? Why would they have silver knobs and black knobs? Seems like allot of extra SKUs.

The bulbs in the first gen are replaceable Should be in the second gen also. There are two screws. One in each vent if I rember right. Here is a link that should solve it.

Red face Re: Control Knobs ?

Sorry!
My answer is ...both of your Cruisers are 2007, Gen 2s.
